THE DROVERS

Brecknock Museum & Art Gallery is proud to present “The Drovers’, an exhibition of contemporary Art inspired by the long lost practise of droving.
Artists; Hilda Benham, Shan Egerton, Veronica Gibson, Diana Hulton, Lesley Lillywhite, Robert Macdonald, Sally Matthews, Roy Powell and Pip Woolf, have each provided works which look at different aspects of the drovers lifestyle, the landscape which surrounded them and even a more contemporary view of the world after droving.
Along side these images and sculptures we display a few of the objects drovers would have used and might have carried along their journey, as well as information about their rich history.

Brecknock Museum should like to thank the artists for their participation along with Ceridegion Museum and Radnorshire Museum who kindly loaned objects and the National Library of Wales who has kindly allowed use of some of their images.

Y Porthmyn

6 Chwefror – 5 Ebrill

Mae’n bleser gan Amgueddfa ac Oriel Gelf Brycheiniog gyflwyno “Y Porthmyn” - arddangosfa o gelf gyfoes a ysbrydolwyd gan yr hen arfer o borthmona. Mae’r artistiaid Hilda Benham, Shan Egerton, Veronica Gibson, Diana Hulton, Lesley Lillywhite, Robert Macdonald, Sally Matthews, Roy Powell a Pip Woolf wedi cyflwyno gwaith sy’n edrych ar wahanol agweddau ar fywydau’r porthmyn, y dirwedd o’u cwmpas a golwg gyfoes ar fyd porthmona.
Ochr yn ochr â’r lluniau a’r cerfluniau hyn, rydym yn dangos rhai o’r gwrthrychau y byddai’r porthmyn wedi’u defnyddio a’u cario ar hyd y daith, yn ogystal â gwybodaeth am eu hanes cyfoethog.

Mae Amgueddfa Brycheiniog am ddiolch i’r artistiaid am gymryd rhan, i Amgueddfa Ceredigion ac Amgueddfa Sir Faesyfed am fenthyca gwrthrychau, ac i Lyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru am ganiatáu i ni ddefnyddio rhai o’u lluniau.
